I absolutely love what I do!!! :) I participated in a bridal fair this weekend at the Sylvester Powell Community Center in Mission, KS....which I must say is a very pretty building and the staff is amazing...and it was a complete ball!
I met so many wonderful brides to be and their families! I loved having the chance to talk to them about my business and what I do exactly. Some knew for a fact they wanted to have a candy/treat buffet at their wedding reception, some had never heard of the idea....but loved it...and then some had never considered it until they saw my table!!! :) WOW!! :)
I received many compliments on the table that I did and a couple requests to do the exact same in their colors!! I had a blast and am looking forward to the Bridal Fair this weekend in Lee's Summit! But just remember.....we aren't just for weddings!! We are a blast for parties too!!

Visions
I have lots and lots of ideas dancing in my head for candy buffets. Of course, when working with a client, they have their ideas and visions too that I need to build on to make sure it comes to be exactly what they had in mind, even if they weren't sure what it was all going to look like at the end!
After a meeting with one of my clients so that she could get a little bit of the look and feel I was working on, we started discussing how to find the things that you need for the buffet. Of course, I have my favorites, but I honestly believe that you have to really put yourself in the clients shoes, know what they want or are looking for. I encourage them to put bits of themselves into the buffet as well.. a favorite photo, a favorite item, etc, etc.
So, when checking out at the local craft store, the cashier asked me if I found everything I needed. I told her no, but thank you. My visions require quite a bit of looking in the not so obvious places. :)
Have a vision...and go for what you want. :)

The memory of mini jawbreakers
Last week, someone at work put a box of the mini jawbreakers in our candy dish. You know the ones....they come in the little green box and are about the size of a Sixlet. Anyways, I walked by, and then doubled back because I was like "OH MY GOODNESS!!! Do you all remember these?! I have not seen these forever!" I remember when we were little kids, we would have a box of these and pass the box around. Of course, everyone had a favorite color. Mine happened to be yellow. We would all get a jawbreaker out and hold it in our hand and the color would start coming off in our hands because they were sweating! Then, on the count of three, we all had to put the jawbreaker in our mouth and start to suck...then you had to stick your tongue out to see if yours was getting smaller the fastest. It was a big contest and so much fun. It brought back a great childhood memory for me and made me smile for a little while when the day was a little hectic and gray. :)
